Endocrinologist - Michael S. Koren, M.D.

Treating hormonal and metabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, thyroid, pituitary and adrenal gland problems can be challenging and need the expertise of an endocrinologist and the clinical associates at the Health Learning Center.

Dr. Michael S. Koren brings a wealth of experience to southern Colorado and understands the importance of working collaboratively with your primary care physician.  His practice, Advanced Care in Endocrinology & Diabetes, includes a dedicated team of dietitians, diabetes educators and exercise coaches working all in one place to develop a treatment plan that’s right for you. 

His expertise includes a wide variety of hormonal and metabolic conditions, including:

• Pre-diabetes
• Diabetes
• High cholesterol
• Vitamin deficiencies and calcium problems
• Abnormal thyroid and parathyroid function
• Thyroid cancer
• Osteoporosis
• Polycystic ovarian syndrome
• Low testosterone and others

Dr. Koren completed his residency at Basset Healthcare, a major teaching hospital of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in Cooperstown, New York and specialized in metabolism, endocrinology and nutrition at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Throughout his training he received many honors including the Aventis Metabolism Scholarship Award, Medical School Honor Diploma and Medial School Diploma for research activity.  He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, The Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Dr. Koren is board-certified in Endocrinology, Nutrition, and Metabolism.
