The surgeon’s with Southern Colorado Vascular Surgery have vast expertise and experience in diagnosing and treating common, complex and rare vascular diseases, as well as in traditional open and endovascular procedures. We're honored to have them as a part of our outstanding vascular program.
Dr. Kissell has practiced vascular surgery in Colorado Springs for more than ten years. She is board-certified in general and vascular surgery, after completing her general surgery residency and fellowships at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to a vascular surgery fellowship, Dr. Kissell completed a formal fellowship in Interventional Radiology which gives her a unique perspective and additional skills to apply to her practice. She is a member of numerous professional associations and is the Director of the Penrose-St. Francis Wound Clinic. She performs all types of venous and arterial surgeries to include hemodialysis access, abdominal aortic aneurysm, carotid, lower extremity revascularization. She also has experience in complex open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair to include fenestrated and branched endografts. Her passion is to build a partnership with her patients to improve their vascular health and quality of life.
Dr. Trinidad-Hernandez comes to us from the University of Arizona College of Medicine Department of Surgery as the former assistant professor of vascular and endovascular surgery. Prior to his time in academic medicine, he spent two years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he completed a fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery. He completed general surgery residency at the Metropolitan Group Hospitals of the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he spent one year dedicated to clinical research in the noninvasive vascular laboratory. He is a member of numerous professional associations and is co-chairman of the carotid artery stenting module of the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI, member of the national research advisory committee of the VQI and the head of the research advisory committee for the Rocky Mountain region of the VQI. He treats a full range of venous and arterial diseases and has extensive experience in complex open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair to include fenestrated and branched endografts. Dr. Trinidad-Hernandez special interest is in second procedures to repair failed surgeries. He is bilingual and welcomes Spanish speaking patients.
