  • Meet our providers at Penrose-St. Francis Primary Care – Circle and Union

  • Gary Klein MDDr. Klein is board-certified in family medicine and brings more than 30 years to Penrose-St. Francis Primary Care. He attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine and his residency at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine Family Practice Residency Program. He is a member of the El Paso County Medical Society, Colorado Medical Society, American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Association. He has a special interest in lipidology, high level cholesterol tests and helping develop these new tests. In his spare time he likes long distance bike riding and running, sports car racing, instructing high performance track driving, skiing, backpacking and enjoying time with family and good friends.
    Gary Jewell MDDr. Jewell is board-certified in family medicine and has practice in Colorado Springs for over 20 years. He received his undergraduate degree in Life Sciences from the United States Air Force Academy in 1975 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1979. Before coming to Colorado Springs, he worked for the University of Wyoming Family Practice Residency in Casper, Wyoming teaching residents after separating from the United States Air Force. His specialties include preventive medicine, sports medicine, skin diseases, and well child exams. He has a special interest in diabetes, metabolic syndrome, ADHD, and patient education. He and Dr. Mary Jewell have been married for 35 years. Dr. Jewell enjoys attending men's Bible studies, mentoring, fishing, skiing, gardening, and reading.
    Mary Jewell MDDr. Jewell received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Occidental College, Los Angeles in 1975 and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1979. She has practiced family medicine in Colorado Springs for 20 years. Previously, she worked for the University of Wyoming Family Practice Residency in Casper and the United States Air Force. Dr. Jewell’s specialties include preventive medicine, sports physicals, and well-child exams. She has a special interest in diabetes, metabolic syndrome, menopause and women’s health issues. She enjoys mentoring and attending women's Bible studies. In her spare time, she can be found on the ski slopes, the Crossfit box, her favorite jogging path or knitting.
    Albina Gadeliya MDDr. Gadeliya is board-certified in family medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in anatomy from Colorado State University in 2002 and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2006. She completed her residency at St. Mary’s Family Practice in Grand Junction, Colorado and has been practicing family medicine in Colorado Springs since 2012. Dr. Gadeliya’s specialties include prevention, fitness, women’s health, sports medicine, sports physicals, and well child exams.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young son. She loves outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, and biking. She also enjoys playing the cello, singing and traveling.
    Michelle Reed DODr. Reed is a board-certified family practitioner who has been in practice for 18 years.  She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Concordia College in 1988 and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993. She completed her internship at Tucson General Hospital, a residency in family medicine and a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the Colorado Springs Osteopathic Foundation in Colorado Springs. Her specialties include preventive medicine,  women’s health, chronic disease management and geriatric medicine. In her free time, she enjoys golf with friends and family, art and music, and her sheepdog puppy, Skiilar, who keeps her very busy!
    Nick Piantanida, MDDr. Piantanida is board certified in Family Medicine and holds a Certificate of Additional Qualification in Sports Medicine. He recently retired as a Colonel from the Army where he practiced for over 21 years, including two combat deployments. Dr. Piantanida graduated from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 1993 and completed both his Family/Sports Medicine Training at DeWitt Army Community Hospital located in Northern Virginia. His practice applies a patient centered approach to ensure a collaborative discussion of both the preventive and restorative health desires of the patient. He is the Medical Director for SET for Health and maintains volunteer affiliations with the United States Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Clinic in Colorado Springs. He is married with three teenage sons. He loves the outdoors and enjoys running, biking, swimming, skiing and hiking.
    Allison Fry, MDDr. Fry is a board-certified family physician who received her Degree of Fellow from the American Academy of Family Physicians. She graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed her family medicine residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ.  Dr. Fry has worked in community health, urgent care and private practice. From 2009 to 2014, Dr. Fry worked in corporate health and served as the medical director at Intel Corps in Phoenix and Qualcomm Health Center in San Diego. She has special interest in complementary medicine, nutrition, and dietary supplementation. Dr. Fry is married, has three children and enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors.
    Sharon Ortiz ANPSharon is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner with more than 11 years of experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the former University of Southern Colorado (now CSU Pueblo), and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado. Her special interests include chronic disease management, geriatrics, and women's health. A Colorado native, in her spare time she enjoys biking, ATV riding, camping, fishing, and traveling.
    Deb Rice, MSN, APNDeborah is licensed in Colorado as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and certified with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She started her career as a Masters prepared Clinical Exercise Physiologist with experience in multiple areas - Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, Weight Management, Medical Fitness, Smoking Cessation, Diabetes Education,  age-group swim coaching, and management.  In 2004, she made the transition to Nursing and Nurse Practitioner to expand upon her health and wellness background.  Her Nurse Practitioner experience includes Vascular Surgery, Primary Care, Geriatrics and Endocrinology.  Today, she cares for patients 16 and older with general medical issues.  Her philosophy with all patients is that it is never too late to start being healthy, even if you have multiple chronic diseases. She is married and recently moved to Colorado Springs from Birmingham, AL.  She enjoys all outdoor activities, history, antiques and art.
    Maryann FultonMaryann is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and received her degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2004. She works primarily in geriatrics and women's health. She is married and has two daughters. In her spare time she enjoys reading and cross stitching.
    Genni Lehnert-BeersGenni received her post-masters Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.  She received her master’s in nursing with a focus on nursing leadership and management from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, UT.  She has over 15 years  of experience in the nursing field.  Prior to working in primary care, she worked in a large pediatric practice in Oregon.  In addition, she  worked in two school based health centers providing medical care to students and staff.  She enjoys working with families and children.  She has a special interest in preventative medicine,  focusing on patient life style and environment.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, reading, attending football and baseball games.
    Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in sports medicine from Colorado State University. In 2010, he completed his master’s degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha where he became a board-certified Physician Assistant. Mark started his career in family medicine at the Southern Colorado Residency Program in Pueblo where he worked at a community health center.  In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding, soccer, hiking, river rafting, and jogging.

  • Kathryn Murray, DODr. Murray received her undergraduate degree in cellular biology from the University of Kansas and her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. She completed her residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver and practiced family medicine in Denver for six years. Dr. Murray's specialties include family medicine, prevention, fitness, women's health, sports medicine, sports physicals, and well child exams. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She loves outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, and biking. She also enjoys playing the piano, reading books, traveling, and watching Kansas Jayhawks basketball games.
