LACTATION CONSULTATION SERVICES AT ST. FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER INPATIENT VISITS A lactation consultant is on staff to see you during your hospitalization if you need breast-feeding assistance. BREAST-FEEDING QUESTIONS After discharge you may call the Breast-feeding Hotline for questions: 571-3018. BREAST-FEEDING MOTHER’S GROUP/BABY WEIGH-IN Tuesdays, 1:00–2:00 p.m. Call 571-3101 to register. OUTPATIENT APPOINTMENTS A private appointment with a lactation consultant for breast-feeding problem management after hospital discharge when: • You and/or your baby are having a hard time with breast-feeding. • Your nipples or breasts hurt. • Your doctor or your baby’s doctor sends you for help. • You have flat or inverted nipples. • You are worried you might have too much or too little milk. • You are nursing multiples or a toddler and a newborn together. • You need help while breast-feeding a premature or special-needs baby. • Any other breast-feeding-related problem. AN AVERAGE CONSULT FOR PROBLEM MANAGEMENT LASTS 60-90 MINUTES. Call 571-3100 to make an appointment. Ask your physician’s office to fax an order for a Lactation Consult to 571-3105 prior to your appointment. Cost: $25 (thanks to a generous grant from the Penrose-St. Francis Foundation). Fee payable by check, cash or credit card. Lactation consults are not directly billable to your insurance. Any nursing aids needed are purchased at additional cost. Location: The Lactation Center is located on the third floor of St. Francis Medical Center. Exit the third floor elevator and turn right. You will see the store just past the information desk. Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
