GI Lab
This area specializes in diseases of the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and small and large intestine or colon). Gastroenterologists, physicians with advanced training in digestive diseases, examine patients using endoscopes. An endoscope is a long flexible tube with a camera at the tip that is put into the stomach or colon. The patient is sedated for the examination. Penrose-St. Francis has specially trained registered nurses and techs to assist the physicians and care for the patient before, during and after the examination.
