Treatments![]() Treatment or management of your sleep disorder may include: Medications: For some patients, medications that may help stimulate breathing are used. Weight loss: Weight loss can be helpful for some patients. Positional therapy: Avoiding certain sleeping positions such as sleeping on one’s back can be helpful for some patients. Surgical treatments: Surgery on the nose and/or throat can alleviate sleep apnea in some patients. Such surgeries are: LAUP, UUUP, Somnoplasty, Septoplasty, Mandibular advancement, and removing the tonsils. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP): This is a non-surgical mode of treatment that is effective in most patients. A nasal mask is worn during sleep. Positive pressure is delivered through this mast to prevent collapsing/obstructing of the airway during sleep. Ask your physician about the Sleep Disorders Center at St. Francis Health Center.
