Penrose-St. Francis Blood Bank plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for the Colorado Springs area. Our donation center is committed to education about the on-going need for blood donations as we strive to provide these life-giving products to our patients.

  Blood Types Needed - Current Levels

Every three seconds in the United States, someone needs blood. It is no wonder that one of the biggest health care crisis facing the nation today is the availability of blood and blood products when they are needed.

Need is Critical! Below Inventory Good Supply

At Penrose-St. Francis Blood Bank, we transfuse more than 10,000 blood products each year. In order to meet the needs of our patients, we must collect 170-200 units every week. So, the need for blood donations is on-going.

Blood cannot be manufactured, duplicated or produced outside of the human body. It can only be obtained through the volunteer efforts of healthy donors willing to give of themselves for the benefit of others.
