Dr. Michael Nunley earned his doctorate at the University of North Dakota. This was after completing his internship in rehabilitation neuropsychology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. It was at that point that he became employed by his mentor, Dr. Mitchell Rosenthal, who was one of the most influential neuropsychologists in the field of brain injury rehabilitation. Thus, Dr. Nunley's training and vocational interests have been strongly devoted to the rehabilitation of those suffering from neurological injuries.
He came to Colorado Springs in 1992 to assist in developing an outpatient program for patients with acquired/traumatic brain injury. After several years, he then joined the staff of an acute care hospital developing rehabilitation programs, for in- and outpatients, which focused on neurological populations. He concurrently was consulting in Greely, CO with a residential/day treatment program for survivors of head injury.
Over the past decade, Dr. Nunley has focused on sports-related head injury. How such injuries affect individuals, aiding them feel better with treatment and referrals, assisting them back into school/work environments, and helping them return to work and play have taken up the majority of his time.
In his spare time, he enjoys his family, three rescue dogs, and watching college football.
