Minimally-Invasive Robotic-Assisted Surgery
The Penrose-St. Francis Robotics Institute
Southern Colorado's Most Experienced Robotic Surgery Program
When you put innovative technology in the region’s most experienced hands, you have southern Colorado’s premier robotic assisted surgery program. The Penrose-St. Francis Robotics Institute is the local authority in a variety of minimally invasive robotic procedures that create better patient outcomes. With 24 surgeons and the newest robotic technology, we’ve performed more robotic-assisted surgeries in the past eight years than any other hospital in the region.
But the Penrose-St. Francis Robotics Institute offers you a lot more than surgical robots. We offer you high quality care and services personalized for you. From the moment you walk in our doors through your follow-up visits, you’ll feel the difference.
The Penrose-St. Francis Robotics Institute features the latest da Vinci® Si Surgical System, an advanced robotic platform outfitted with a tiny high-resolution camera and multiple arms. Each arm is equipped with micro instruments that can rotate 360 degrees to better access your surgical site. The system magnifies, scales, filters, controls for tremor, and seamlessly translates your surgeon’s hand movements into precise micro-movements of the medical instruments.
With only a few tiny incisions, your surgeon can perform complex surgery that offers you the potential for:
- Significantly less pain
- A faster recovery time
- A shorter hospital stay
- A quicker return to your everyday activities
- Less scarring
- Less risk of infection
- Less blood loss
- A better clinical outcome
"The da Vinci provides the power and ability of a computer between me and the patient," said Dr. John Mehall, Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon. "I can see better and do more ... all without opening the patient's chest, and by controlling the instrumentation from the outside. The recovery time is also much quicker and gets people on their feet faster."
Our advanced robotic surgery program is supported by Centura Centers for Clinical Innovation, extending advanced health technologies across Colorado.
