Our surgeons have met the stringent demands set forth by the ASMBS allowing Penrose-St. Francis Health Services to become southern Colorado's only Accredited Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.
Dr. Fisher was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. After graduating from Hamilton College with a Bachelor of Science degree, he attended medical school at Syracuse Health Science Center. His surgical residency was completed at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, where he received awards for excellence in teaching and patient care. Dr. Fisher has a wide exposure to new technology advances in the areas of laparoscopic surgery (minimally invasive surgery) and sentinel lymph node biopsy during his training. Dr. Fisher has written and published several journal articles and book chapters in the areas of trauma, gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Fisher and his wife Jennifer are enjoying spending time with their two daughters. They have many outdoor interests such as skiing, camping, hiking, and running. He relaxes with music, playing the french horn and guitar.

Dr. Fedorak attended the University of Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Chicago-Pritzker School of medicine. He completed his surgical residency at Loyola University in Chicago in 1994 and has been practicing general, laparoscopic and trauma surgery in Colorado Springs since that time.Dr. Fedorak is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He has authored multiple journal articles on the surgical treatment of endocrine and pancreatic diseases, and is a member of several organizations, including the University of Chicago Surgical Society, the Frederick A. Coller Surgical Society and the Pancreas Club.Dr. Fedorak and his wife, Dr. Ellen Arendt, have two children, Nadia and Roman. He enjoys skiing, hunting, fishing, and all manner of outdoor activities.

After graduating from Texas Tech University, Dr. Bordelon attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He then fulfilled a general surgery residence at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center in Salt Lake City from 1988 through 1994. While there, he was a fellow in laparoscopic surgery at the University of Utah Laser Institute as the John Dixon Fellow for Minimally Invasive Surgery, 1991-92.Dr. Bordelon is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, among other regional and national professional societies. He has published several journal articles and book chapters regarding basic and advanced laparoscopic surgery in the surgical literature. Dr. Bordelon has been practicing general, laparoscopic, and trauma surgery in Colorado Springs since 1994. Dr. Bordelon and his wife have three grown children and enjoy hiking, biking, and travel.

Fran Jackson, RN, CBN
Bariatric Program Coordinator
Since 2005, Fran Jackson has been the bariatric program coordinator for Penrose-St. Francis Health Services. Fran screens patients for bariatric surgery, conducts patient seminars and assists with support groups for both gastric bypass and Lapband surgery patients. Fran was born in Sydney, Australia and has worked at hospitals in England, Washington, North Dakota and Colorado. She began her career with Penrose-St. Francis in 1992 as an operating room registered nurse and became a certified bariatric nurse in 2007.
The bariatric nurses at the Penrose-St. Francis Weight Loss Surgery Institute are registered nurses with advanced training and certification in bariatric surgery. They provide coordination of care, education and personal support throughout the weight loss surgical process. They serve as a resource for information regarding the surgical procedure.
Bariatric Dietitians & Behavioral Therapists
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, the bariatric dietitians at the Penrose-St. Francis Weight Loss Surgery Institute focus on disease prevention and health promotion and provide the framework of comprehensive nutrition support. They are specially trained in nutrition management following bariatric surgery. Each patient meets with a dietitian before and after surgery to receive a tailored nutrition plan, intense education, and behavioral support to ensure long-term positive outcomes. Our behavioral therapists conduct a psycho-social evaluation and address psychological issues. Exercise physiologists design a unique post-operative exercise program and monitor each patient throughout the exercise program.
