Lakewood, Colo. (Nov. 13, 2013) – St. Anthony Health Foundation will host the inaugural St. Anthony Hospital Gala — slated for Saturday, January 25, 2014 — with proceeds benefitting a new Neurosciences Center to expand the neurological, neurosurgical, neuro-interventional and traumatic brain injury care available on the St. Anthony Medical Campus in Lakewood.
“Neurosciences is a leading specialty at St. Anthony Hospital,” said Leslie Strate St. Anthony Health Foundation president and chief development officer. “Our hospital is one of 58 in the nation to achieve Comprehensive Stroke Center status, and one of only three Level I Trauma Centers in Colorado, which makes our traumatic brain injury care extraordinarily important. The emerging interest in ‘brain fitness’ and advances in neuro-rehabilitation add to the timeliness of this decision.”
Honorary co-chairs for the Gala are Gail and Joe Coors. “We have had wonderful experiences at St. Anthony Hospital,” said Gail Coors, “and we are happy to support this important expansion of neurosciences care for our local community and the many visitors to our state who will benefit from the research, advanced education, and patient care carried out at this exciting new Center.”
Serving as physician co-chairs of the event are Stewart Levy, MD, chief of Neurosurgery and medical director of Neurosciences for St. Anthony Hospital and Richard H. Smith, MD, medical director of Neurosciences for Centura Health’s Mountains and North Denver Operating Group. The development of this new Neurosciences Center is a key component of Centura’s overall neurosciences initiative.
Early premier-level Gala sponsors include Critical Care, Pulmonary and Sleep Associates, and GE Johnson Construction Company.
The Gala evening will begin with an open-bar cocktail hour and silent auction. The cocktail hour will feature “interactive entertainment” to demonstrate the creativity of our amazing brains: instant on-request sketches, musical feats performed at a moment’s notice and more.
Guests will be treated to a formal dinner, followed by a “brainy” comedy performance, a video showcasing Neurosciences patients treated at St. Anthony Hospital, and plans for the future. An evening of dancing will follow.
